Some of the most commonly used measures to assess the success of fertility treatments and likelihood of a healthy singleton pregnancy and live birth include SET rate and IVF pregnancy rate. SET is the single most predictive indicator of a singleton IVF pregnancy and subsequent successful live birth. It is an important clinical protocol used to avoid multiple gestation pregnancies, which are associated with higher medical costs and poorer health outcomes for mothers and infants. Preterm birth, low birth weight, neurological impairments, and death are more common outcomes of multiple gestation pregnancies compared to singleton pregnancies.
